Last week, we had a great opportunity to take part in the Guangzhou Science and Technology Week 2022, and showcase WeRide’s autonomous driving technology and innovative products to students from Guangzhou №2 High School, a prestigious school funded in 1930.
It was a day of heavy rain, but it didn’t stop the students from coming out to experience the new technology. WeRide’s engineer, holding an umbrella on the square, couldn’t wait to share inspiring WeRide stories of what makes the bus behind him self-driving.
WeRide Robotaxi was ready to serve our young passengers with rides around their campus. Students lined up to take autonomous driving rides, the very first ones to some of them.
Robotaxi and Mini Robobus drove in rain, giving the students a stunning experience. The autonomous rides turned the everyday scenes of the campus extraordinary.
We met quite a few techies during the event. They were no stranger of high technology. They carefully studied the visualization on the monitors. They paid close attention to every move that the Robotaxi made. They asked a lot of whys about autonomous driving and discussed with our engineer in the rain.
As a company developing cutting-edge technology, we have been pondering over what more we can do in addition to bringing safer and more reliable autonomous driving technologies and products to the world?
When more and more people get to know emerging autonomous driving technologies, how are they supposed to break their cognitive boundaries and embrace such novel technology, and the future built with it?
In our exploration over the past five years, we have come up with an answer. That is TRUST.

WeRide’s Robotaxi has been operating in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District since 2019 — teachers and students of Guangzhou №2 High School’s Huangpu Campus can easily hop on our Robotaxis right in front of their campus. They just need to download the “WeRide GO” app and then can experience the best ride of autonomous driving every day.
